Each letter set includes:
- A double-sided letter from a peer from the past. Each illustrated letter is folded and sealed with a decorative seal.
- A large, double-sided activity sheet with biographies, historical context, and several engaging activities.
- A collectible item/card that complements each letter.
- A fun, waterproof sticker themed to each letter.
- Access to 'The Postscript'. Intentionally designed for your child to get the most out of each letter—either with your help or on his/her own—The Postscript is an online resource with additional insights, discussion topics, learning activities, etc.
The "Independence Quest" letter set covers most major events leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence (Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party, Battles of Lexington & Concord, Battle of Bunker Hill, both Continental Congresses, formation of the Continental Army, Siege of Boston, Olive Branch Petition, Noble Train of Artillery/liberation of Boston, publication of Common Sense, signing of the Decalaration of independence, etc.).
Through the letters and activity sheets we also highlight 24 founding figures (12 men and 12 women), and offer a glimpse into colonial life.
For preorders of the Independence Quest letter set, your first letter will be sent out in August 2026. Subsequent letters will go out according to your selected frequency.
Letters with a 'Monthly' frequency will be sent on the first Tuesday of each month (taking about a year to receive a full 12-letter set).
Letters with a 'Bi-Monthly' frequency will be sent on the first and third Tuesdays of each month (taking about 6 months to receive a full 12-letter set).
Letters with a 'Weekly' frequency will be sent every Tuesday (taking about 3 months to receive a full 12-letter set).
All of our letter sets are designed to be engaging and highlight a particular era of American history. You can choose any collection that appeals to your child.
While the letters are designed for children ages 8-14, they are intended to be enjoyed by the entire family. They make a great conversation starter to explore important ideas and values in American society.
Depending on your private or public charter standards, our products can constitute a full American History curriculum for homeschool families when used in their entirety (letters, activity sheets, The Postscript online resources, etc.). They also make a great supplement to other history curricula. Our recommendation for families using this as a full history curriculum would be to order the letters to be ordered with a weekly frequency.
While our letters make occasional reference to some religious themes in a historical context and explore early American values, they do not specifically promote any particular religion or denomination.
At this time, we only send letters to addresses in the United States.
While the letter sets are sent out in 12 individual deliveries, there is only a single, up-front payment. No ongoing subscription charges are required.
